GOVERNMENT
Critic of SIEVX.com Exposed

by Marg Hutton
5 October 2002

For more than two weeks, this site and some of the contributors to its previous online forum have come under personal attack in a series of letters to the Canberra Times online 'Your Say' by one 'Belinda Moss'. In particular 'Moss' has singled out three SIEVX forum participants for her most stinging criticisms.

Late yesterday it emerged that these letters were written under a false name.

Below is an extract from a letter published yesterday on the Canberra Times website by its Editor-in-chief, Jack Waterford outing the phoney 'Belinda Moss':

One of the perennial, and increasingly abusive correspondences, has been about SIEV X. I have tolerated it, in part, because passions are genuinely engaged. But, it emerges, that one of the correspondents, Belinda Moss, is not who she says she is, whether or not she believes what she says. There was a certain silence when we made contact with the email address...

However what this letter doesn't reveal is that the name 'Belinda Moss' was more than just an alias - it appears to be the appropriation of the identity of a real person. Research reveals there is only one Belinda Moss currently living in Canberra and she is a high level public servant.

It appears that someone has appropriated this person's identity in order to use it to maliciously attack this site and its contributors, perhaps hoping to entrap us to respond in kind to the personal attacks.

The phoney 'Belinda Moss' has expressed outrage at a contributor 'hiding behind [an] alias'. Who is this cowardly hypocrite? What is their game?
